According to papers published and cited during specific bimonthly updates of Essential Science Indicators database, for each of the 22 fields below, the top three most cited papers published in the last two-years are listed. The rankings are based on total citations and may change slightly from one bimonthly update to the next as new citations are added to each paper's total.

NOTE: As of January 1, 2008, the bimonthly feature "Analysis Of...," has been discontinued and will no longer be updated. All of the existing content has been archived, and will still be available at their original locations below.
