As of March 1, 2007, Essential Science IndicatorsSM data were updated to cover an 11-year period, from January 1996 to December 31, 2006. With this update, the data pool expanded to include an additional 1,237 scientists, 117 institutions, 12 countries, and 22 journals that are either entirely new to Essential Science Indicators, or new to one of the database’s 22 fields.
