Essential Science Indicators
data were updated to cover a 10-year plus 8-month period, from January 1991 to August 31, 2001. With this update, the data pool expanded to include an additional 1,334 scientists; 188 institutions; six countries; and 30 journals that are either entirely new to
ISI Essential Science Indicators, or new to one of the database's 22 fields. In-cites identifies here those that broke into the charts with the highest number of citations.
In the Scientists category, 22 researchers among the 1,334 additions to
ISI Essential Science Indicators floated to the top in terms of citations, one in each field covered by the database. These new entrants are shown in the table below:
