As of November 1, 2006, Essential Science Indicators data were updated to cover a 10-year plus 8-month period, from January 1996 to August 31, 2006. With this update, the data pool expanded to include an additional 1,737 scientists, 228 institutions, 20 countries, and 44 journals that are either entirely new to Essential Science Indicators, or new to one of the database’s 22 fields.
