As of November 1, 2007, Essential Science Indicators data were updated to cover a 10-year plus 8-month period, from January 1997 to August 31, 2007. With this update, the data pool expanded to include an additional 1,745 scientists, 205 institutions, 18 countries, and 50 journals that are either entirely new to Essential Science Indicators, or new to one of the database’s 22 fields.
