As of January 1, 2004, ISI Essential Science Indicators data were updated to cover a ten-year plus ten-month period, from January 1993 to October 31, 2003. With this update, the data pool expanded to include an additional 2,023 scientists, 231 institutions, 18 countries, and 47 journals that are either entirely new to the ISI Essential Science Indicators Web product, or new to one of the database’s 22 fields.
