As of January 1, 2007, Essential Science Indicators
data were updated to cover a 10-year plus 10-month period, from
January 1996 to October 31, 2006. With this update, the data pool expanded
to include an additional 1,859 scientists, 211 institutions, 17 countries,
and 40 journals that are either entirely new to Essential Science
Indicators, or new to one of the database’s 22 fields.
