As of May 1, 2006, Essential Science Indicators
data were updated to cover a 10-year plus 2-month period, from
January 1996 to February 28, 2006. With this update, the data pool
expanded to include an additional 7,020 scientists, 216 institutions, 28
countries, and 82 journals that are either entirely new to Essential
Science Indicators, or new to one of the database’s 22 fields.
