As of September 1, 2007, Essential Science Indicators data were updated to cover a 10-year plus 6-month period, from January 1997 to June 30, 2007. With this update, the data pool expanded to include an additional 1,491 scientists, 185 institutions, 15 countries, and 34 journals that are either entirely new to Essential Science Indicators, or new to one of the database’s 22 fields.
