Between 2002 and 2006,
Thomson Scientific indexed 41,660 papers that listed at least one author
address in Denmark. Of those papers, Denmark's highest percentage
appeared in journals classified under the heading of biology &
biochemistry. In that field, as the right-hand column indicates, the
citations-per-paper average for papers from Denmark exceeded the world
average by 15% (8.73 cites per paper for Denmark, versus a world
baseline of 7.56 citations). Farther down the list, the nation's
relative-impact performance was also notably strong in agricultural
sciences (57% above the world mark), physics (60% above), engineering
(+55%), and materials science (+52%).
